This is no surprise–American Airlines added additional firearms restrictions for all three of DC’s airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). Earlier this week I wrote a post about avoiding these three airports next week.

Firearms were never allowed to be brought onboard as carry-on items, but–with specific protocols–firearms are ordinarily allowed to be transported in checked baggage. As a proactive measure following the violence at the Capitol last week, American is restricting passengers from transporting firearms into the three DC airports from January 16-23, 2021–the week of the inauguration. There are exceptions for certain law enforcement and DOD members.
Crazy times.
