For those of you with an American Express credit card there may be some good news during these terrible times. Coronavirus is affecting us in so many ways. Our physical health is at risk from contracting the virus, our mental health is at risk from being stuck inside our homes, and most of us are beginning to feel the financial effects of this pandemic by means of our jobs or diminishing retirement accounts.
Yet–in this time of crisis, there is some good. The random act of kindness by a stranger, the new appreciation for family and close friends, and many companies are going above and beyond to extend themselves for their employees and/or customers. Amex is one of those offering some help.
If you are struggling to make payments on your Amex card, you may be able to:
- lower your monthly payment
- provide relief from late payment fees
- temporarily lower your interest rate
- prevent your accounts from going past due
These are extraordinary times. Although this particular offer is from Amex, I would bet that other major credit card companies are willing to provide some form of assistance also. If you are one of many that are experiencing financial adversity from this pandemic, I would strongly urge you proactively contact your credit card company to see what they will do for you. It can’t hurt to ask. Don’t wait until your credit score is affected by late payments.
