The Chase co-branded credit cards for the IAG (International Airlines Group) have kicked off the new year with a bang. IAG is the parent group that owns British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus. Chase has co-branded credit cards with these three airlines–each has a $95 annual fee.
Here’s a little background. Spending on these cards earns Avios. Avios are the form of currency that BA, Iberia, and Aer Lingus use to book reward flights or upgrade existing seats paid for with real money. Essentially, Avios are just regular credit card points with a fancy name to be used within the IAG ecosystem.
Cardholders can now earn up to 5X Avios when using the card–it used to be 3X. This promotion will run all of 2021. Remember that you also earn Avios for the flight itself once you complete the trip–as long as it’s not a reward flight. These Avios can add up quickly–resulting in free flights or welcome upgrades.
Where will your Avios take you?
