Now I’m getting a little nervous. The coronavirus is not new. We have all been hearing about it over the past several weeks. In many respects we are fortunate that the devastation has been limited to certain areas of China, and it hasn’t really become a global pandemic…until now. Today the global stock markets are tanking as countries, particularly Italy, announced a huge spike in the number of people infected.
What if you were considering travel or already had a trip planned? This is the latest information according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The bottom line is avoid China at all costs. The CDC also recommends avoiding any cruises that travel through Asia.
The following are some other countries to keep on your radar.
Bottom Line
These are difficult times, especially if you or your loved ones live in the areas with widespread infection. Things will get worse before they get better. Unfortunately, if you already have travel plans and did not purchase refundable tickets, you are likely out of luck. I would strongly recommend contacting your airline, cruise line, and/or your credit card company to discuss your options. With any luck, they will work with you to at least postpone plans until this virus is under control.
