United Airlines flight #328 was forced to return to Denver International Airport yesterday after it suffered engine failure shortly after takeoff. Engine debris rained down on homes and yards in a Denver suburb. The plane was en route to Honolulu with 241 people on board, including 231 passengers and 10 crew members. It was a small miracle that no one was injured or killed in this incident.
Police received calls from residents who said they heard a loud explosion follow by pieces of the engine falling from the sky near Broomfield, which is just west of Denver.
Here’s what it looked like on the ground.
The NTSB is investigating the cause of the engine failure. It is apparent that the great job on the part of the pilots and air traffic controllers saved the lives of everyone onboard. It was incredibly fortunate those chunks of debris didn’t kill or injure anyone.
