What Ever Happened to PBI’s Primeclass Lounge?

Back in early January there was a lot of travel news boasting of a new Priority Pass lounge coming to Palm Beach International Airport. I even recall seeing a coming soon advertisement on the Priority Pass website. I passed through PBI on January 9th of this year, and the lounge was operational. I chatted with someone from the management team, and they let me have a look around. I was told they just opened the day before and their debut is considered a soft opening for a couple of weeks while they work out the kinks and limited food menu.

Primeclass Lounge, PBI

This lounge was supposed to part of the Priority Pass network, but Priority Pass was holding off signing the contract for whatever reason. They offer a day pass for $45.

The lounge is on the small side, but there isn’t really much traffic at PBI compared to the two other major airports in south Florida (Fort Lauderdale and Miami). Being just the second day in operation, it was absolutely spotless. There are two stations; one for beverages and one for food. There wasn’t a wide variety of food selection, but you can definitely make a meal out of what’s offered. The lounge has a private bathroom, but no shower facilities.

Bottom Line

PBI needed another lounge. Until Primeclass, the Delta Sky Club was the only game in town. It’s a shame that a couple of months have past and it still hasn’t been accepted into the Priority Pass network. This lounge is a good option to relax before a flight, but I think $45 is a little steep for what is offered.
